Frequently Asked Questions

Some common questions about counselling and how we work.

Therapy can be extremely helpful if you’re struggling or going through a tough time; Therapy helps you to get to know yourself and helps you manage your thoughts and feelings. It offers you a safe confidential space if you need to talk.

Therapy can help you gain confidence and improve your self esteem; it can aid you with relationship or family issues.

Mental health is of primary importance and yet in our education system, we spend very little time learning how to cope, how to live with difficulties, and even getting to know who we are.

In your first session, the therapist will ask questions about you and your life. She will try to create an atmosphere of safety and trust between you both and establish a connection of non judgment and ease.

There is no fixed term in Therapy. The simple answer is that there is no simple answer. For some people, therapy is short term and for others it’s a longer period.

Meree works from a Humanistic approach, integrating Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with Gestalt and primarily a Person Centered Approach. Meree believes that each person is doing the best he/she can, knowing that better choices are available, and enabling access to these choices is the journey of Therapy.
